Scope and Motivation

Given the ever-increasing traffic demand and required quality of services, current wireless access networks will soon reach their limit. For this reason, it is foreseen that the commercial deployment of the first 5G networks will probably occur by 2020 and will respond to a set of predefined requirements mainly, shorter end to end latency (in the order of ms), higher number of connected devices (in the order of millions per square kilometer) and higher peak data rate per user (around 4 times of current 4G).

Nevertheless, to respond to these above trends, important technical challenges still need to be solved. Today, 5G is a hot research topic, gaining increasing popularity, not only among researchers in academia and industries but also among standardization bodies.

The goal of this workshop is to expose the latest insights and innovations from industry and academia on 5G networks and beyond. Our intention is to make this workshop attractive through active exchanges, particularly with round table discussions.

The workshop will include the following sessions:

  • Regular paper session: Presentation of accepted regular papers.
  • 5G Standardization session: Invited keynote speakers will present main advances in standardization efforts for 5G networks.
  • Round table session: Prestigious invitees from industry and academia will be involved in a round table session to exchange around hot topics in 5G networks.

Keynote Speakers

  • Yoann Corre, Wireless CTO, Head of Reseach & Technology, Connectivity Department, SIRADEL
  • Philippe Sehier, Manager, Chief Technical Office, Nokia
  • Christian Gallard, Leading research activities, Connectivity for wireless broadband services, Orange
